Sometimes allergies mean that people have to miss out on the fun of owning a gorgeous dog. If you or one of your family members suffers from dog allergies but would still like to have a canine companion then the answer is here! There are certain breeds that have been identified as hypoallergenic or as suitable for people with allergies to pet dander.

Usually these dogs have non shedding coats. Unfortunately some of the most beloved breeds are not non-shedding. The Golden Retriever and the Labrador are both dogs loved for their temperament and disposition. Unfortunately not everyone can own these dogs to their tendency to shed. If you are one such person then you will love Labradoodle puppies.

    Cross Breeding

Labradoodle puppies are gaining popularity because this unique cross breed has all the wonderful qualities you would want in a dog minus a coat that sheds. When a Labrador or Golden Retriever is cross bred with a poodle the resulting puppies have coats that tend to take after the poodles non-shedding coat.

However if you really want to make sure that your future pet does not shed at all then look for a Labradoodle puppies that are second or third generation crosses. Or a puppy that has one first generation Labradoodle parent and one poodle parent. Your puppy will have a coat that is great for anyone who cannot tolerate dander.

The appearance of the Labradoodle puppies’ coats will depend on the parent and what generation they are. A first generation cross can have the tight curls of the poodle or softer waves. Second or third generation Labradoodle puppies will have tighter curls if they are further bred with poodles or other Labradoodles.

    Temperament

Besides the beautiful coats and overall adorable appearance of these dogs you want to make sure that your Labradoodle puppies will grow into dogs you can love and depend on. Poodles are highly intelligent and Labradoodle puppies inherit this intelligence, making them easy to train. The even temper and friendly disposition of the Labrador means that you will not have a high strung dog, something often associated with poodles.

However you need to be careful when selecting your Labradoodle puppies, you need to make sure that the parents of your puppies have a good temperament. The temperament of the parents will often determine the temperament of the puppies. This means making sure that you meet the parents of your prospective puppies. It may seem unnecessary considering the reputation of both breeds. Remember that not all dogs will fit a breeds’ stereotype or temperament.

    The Right Breeder

The right breeder makes all the difference when you are looking for Labradoodle puppies. Some unscrupulous breeders are simply cross breeding poodles and Labradors without doing the proper research. To ensure that you get great Labradoodle puppies a breeder must make sure any dogs he or she cross breeds is health and temperament tested.

Dogs with genetic defects or health problems will produce puppies with the same problems. If you want a healthy puppy then it is up to you to make sure you find a reputable breeder. Look at paperwork for the parents and inspect the breeding premises for yourself. Are the puppies kept in a clean condition?

Ask questions about multi generation cross breeding. A good breeder will understand what you are talking about and will be able to explain the process to you. Some amateur breeders or ‘backyard breeders’ assume that simply crossing a Labrador and a poodle will give you Labradoodle puppies. An experienced and well informed breeder knows that it takes more than one generation of cross breeding to produce the non-shedding coat that is so prized in the Labradoodle.

Once you have found the right breeder and feel satisfied that you are bringing home a quality puppy don’t forget that you are bringing home an active puppy. Both the Labrador and the poodle love to run and exercise. Labradoodle puppies are no different, they will want to play outdoors and have fun with you while running in the outdoors. Make sure you can make your puppy happy with lots of activity. These dogs are highly intelligent and will get bored quickly with a life of inactivity.
