How Can You Stop Your Neighbor’s Dog From Barking-Bark Collars?

Wednesday, May 4th, 2011

I wish I knew how to prevent my neighbor’s dog from barking when it was really loud. They were always leaving their screen door open when they were away. They also had two dogs that used to bark all the time. Despite filling many noise complaints, nothing was done about the noise. The dogs started to really annoy everybody in the neighborhood, as they would bark continuously, day and night.

I am in no way implying that dogs should not bark! They are dogs and that is what they do. There are situations when barking is really necessary. A dog can be left outside by mistake, it can get lonely, it can be hurt or anxious at something, or it can simply feel frustrated when being locked up. hence just plain curiosity. Not all people realize that giving the dog rewards when it barks, such as a good treat or special attention, will only make it bark louder and more often, rather than calm it down. In reality, it is showing the dogs that this is a good behavior and that if they want more attention, all they need to do is to continue barking more.

Leaving your dog outside is not the best solution. It pretty much then comes with a guarantee that there will be problems with your neighbors, not to mention that there is no way to protect your canine from sudden bad weather. If no one is going to be home, some dog owners use crates to place them in, but a good rule of thumb is to never let your dog be stuck in one of those for over four hours at one time. There are other alternatives you can resort to, for instance a large area in your house or apartment where the dog can create its own space where it feels safe and comfortable. Do not forget that the dog also needs a bathroom. Buy it a litter tray, or use a pile of newspapers in the farthest corner of the room. A better alternative would be to make it a doggie door so it can go outside to do its business.

In some cases, even if you took all the aforementioned measures, the dog may still bark all the time. In this case, you should probably consider purchasing a bark collar. If your dog isn’t the problem, but your neighbor’s, a good idea would be to write him a letter in which you politely ask him to do something about his dog’s barking. It is possible that the neighbors are not even aware that their cute little dog is barking its head off while they are at work, although I am sure my neighbors knew since they had so many noise complaints brought against them. If that does not resolve the issue, you may want to either send another anonymous letter or perhaps even talk to them face to face about them considering the idea of getting their dog or dogs a bark collar.

If dogs are loud all the time, then you should do something about it. If barking turns becomes a constant habit for your neighbor’s dog, suggest him to buy his dog a bark collar. If you want to read more about how you could solve the barking problems with a bark collar, click on this link.

Do Bark Collars Really Work?

Wednesday, May 4th, 2011

Dogs bark for a number of reasons, most of them legitimate. Some though dogs are very active or restless and tend to vocalize very often. Dogs are extremely attached to their owners and feel their absence; they usually become noisy when they are left alone in the house.

Since the owner isn’t at home, it is very difficult for him to be able to control his dog’s behavior. There are times when dog owners do not know what to do anymore, other than subject their pets to debarking surgeries or simply take them to a shelter. Neither of these was a good choice, but if you lived anywhere near others, especially if there were other dogs in the neighborhood, several citations left no other choices.

Then came the no bark collar. These devices were not always as efficient as they are now. Older collars reacted at any type of bark, even the barking of foregin dogs or the barking that occured as a natural reaction to stimuli.

Since then, bark collars have evolved. There are now three types available: spray, sonic, and static. All three types are based on the same idea. When the collar detects barking of a certain range of frequencies and volume (both audibly and vibrationally) for a preset number of times, it will then be triggered. This is what makes these collars react only to the dog’s barking. They are so evolved that they can distinguish between barking and other sounds produced due to fear or stress.

Static bark collars give the dog mild shocks when it is noisy; those with citrus spray spread the substance and the ultrasonic collars produce an irritating sound that only dogs can hear. No mechanism included in dog collars can harm your dog. Many of the static bark collars have adjustable steps (and increasing levels of correction); and most have an automatic timed shutdown if the dog barks for an extended period without cease. Moreover, the bark collar can switch to a lower setting if the dog doesn’t produce any noise for a certain amount of time. This reduction reinforces the idea that being quiet has benefits.

Having a bark collar does not exclude proper dog training; these collars should be used only as adjuvants. Anti-bark collars are meant for use over a limited period. It is important to monitor the first days when the dog wears the collar; if you cannot do it all the time, because you have to leave for work or school, you could ask a neighbor to help you. Usually, they will be happy to help, since they are the ones that must endure the noise. Choose a person whom your dog trusts already.

This monitoring is crucial in the beginning to ensure your dog reacts within normal parameters for effective training. Dogs need much more than an anti-bark collar in order to learn how to behave. You must train them constantly, especially during their first year of life.

Instead of resorting to extreme solutions, consider purchasing bark collars instead. These devices can prove to be very efficient in educating your dog. If you want to know more details about these devices and the mechanisms they use, read more about bark collars here.

When My Dog Barks Too Much Is It Time to Give Him Up for Adoption?

Sunday, May 1st, 2011

It’s normal for your dog to bark every now and then. What it is weird is the constant, repetitive barking that seems to have no reason whatsoever. If this is the case, you need to step up and make a change in your dog’s life in order to change its behavior. If you’re one of those dog owners who cuddle their pet all the time, realize that your behavior only encourages him to get loud. So the next time Fluffy is barking his head off while you are busy doing something else in another room, before yelling at him to be quiet, stop and take a moment to think who more than likely contributed to this undesirable behavior.

Make sure your dog is ready to handle you being away for a couple of hours or even more. Be sure he or she has plenty of water, enough food (don’t go overboard here unless you want an overweight dog who eats out of loneliness or boredom, much like some humans do), and has a nice and comfortable place to just chill out where he is not able to see other pets or people. It’s possible that you encouraged him to only be happy in your presence; when you leave, he will get bored and start making a lot of noise. He has soon learned that the world revolves around him and when he finds himself “abandoned” in the empty house he becomes distraught and starts barking-did you expect differently?.

Even if you talk to your dog, it’s obvious that he won’t get a word you say; what he can learn from is the way you behave with him. When you go overboard and go on and on about how everything is going to be just fine and you will be back very soon, you are actually just making things worse. Also overdoing the excitement in greeting your dog upon your return tells him that staying home all day alone really is a big deal!.

If you are the owner of such a spoiled dog, that barks all the time, without any obvious reason, you will be happy to find out that not all hope is lost; there are some devices called bark collars that are able to help you with the problem of the restless dog. There are many options of bark collars for energetic dogs, and you can choose the one that suits your pet best; the bark collar that uses citronella is one of the most popular anti-bark collars and it will give great results in no time. These collars don’t inflict pain but are rather annoying for the pet. They produce a citrus smell that some people actually enjoy. dogs do not and quickly make the connection and bark less. Think long and hard before giving up your dog for adoption.

Many times when a dog barks is nothing more than a natural reaction. You can choose from many models of bark collars that can train your dog into barking less. Click here to find out more on the types of bark collars available.

Should Bark Collars Be Banned?

Sunday, May 1st, 2011

Bark collars started as an idea, probably by a neighbor of someone whose dog was anxious or neglected, and barked much too often. If you have the bad luck of living in a neighborhood where there are many such dogs, your life can turn into a nightmare.

Originally, there was one style of bark collar, the static or ‘shock’ collar. Back then, its mechanism wasn’t so advanced and it led to several complications. The device wasn’t able to tell one dog’s bark from another and it often reacted randomly, even if the dog wearing it wasn’t at fault. Some owners did not supervise their dogs during the first few days of wearing the device and their animals displayed various kinds of trauma.

technology has advanced within past years, yet the idea that led to the invention of bark collars is the same.

None of these collars intend to harm the dog, but rather teach it not to bark all the time. (Not only these collars can correct excessive barking, but they can also teach the dog to avoid other annoying behaviors).

There are now three types of correction available: spray, sonic, and the already mentioned static. The bark collar in the first category use a strong scented citrus spray that annoys the animal and make it stop barking. This spray is not harmful for the dog. The sonic one uses high-pitched sounds only dogs can hear. Both of these styles are best used on ‘sensitive’ dogs; those that are high-strung or over-react to physical stimulation (spray collars are not recommended for scent hounds due to the sensitivity of their noses).

People seem to like static collars best, due to their constant innovation. When the collar detects barking of a certain range of frequencies and volume (both audibly and vibrationally) for a preset number of times, it will then be triggered. The static collar only reacts to the barking of the dog wearing it. Also having a volume and frequency requirement helps prevent the collar from being triggered by fear, pain, or other vocalizations not tied to problem barking. Many of the static bark collars have adjustable steps (and increasing levels of correction); and most have an automatic timed shutdown if the dog barks for an extended period without cease. In addition, the static collar auto-resets to lower levels if the dog doesn’t bark for a certain period. This system helps in teaching the dog to bark only when needed.

Anti-bark collars work best when associated with proper dog training. They shouldn’t be used as a single method of training. Praise and play for good behavior, exercise to help reduce restlessness and anxiety, and activities to keep the dog occupied when alone are all positive items that can help reduce the perceived need to bark for attention.

When used for the purpose they were intended, bark collars are effective and much preferred to the alternatives- ‘debarking’ surgery that involves cutting the vocal cords (with all the risks inherent in any surgery), and having to find another home for what is supposed to be a forever friend

Even though the first versions of bark collar weren’t perfect, they have been improved in time. Most types of dog collars can be adjusted manually or digitally. If you want to find out more about different types of bark collar, click here.

Solutions for Dog Barking

Sunday, May 1st, 2011

You might find the bark collar an extreme measure to prevent your dog from constant barking, yet you probably need to resort to this as your pet has already started to annoy your neighbors. It is very normal for a dog to bark, however excessive barking is a problem. Bark collars are one way of training your dog that there is a right and wrong time to bark. Learning why your dog has begun to bark is essential, and you can begin to work on a solution to the problem.

Constant barking might simply be just a habit for your dog. The animal barks for many reasons. It might be its reaction to fear, stress, boredom or it simply doesn’t like to be lonely. You have to learn that often your dog is barking to get your attention, and if you get up every time they bark, they are receiving the attention they want.

Barking all night long might annoy all your neighbors. Not only will you and your family be awakened, but the neighboring houses may be as well. A great solution for the problem is combining dog training with a bark collar. There are more types of bark collars you can choose from. Even if bark collars are not the most loved anti-barking method, they are extremely efficient.

There are more types of bark collars you can choose from, so you will definitely find the most proper one for your dog, The first anti-barking collar that appeared on the market is the static collar. It has incorporated a mechanism that gives the dog a mild shock every time it barks for a longer period of time. The dog will quickly learn to stop barking when the shock is administered.

This type of bark collar is very effective, but should be used alongside a good training program to ensure that your dog is learning good habits. Another good anti-barking solution is the sonic device, that sends a high-pitched sound only dogs can hear. Although you will not be able to hear anything your dogs sensitive hearing will pick up on the noise, and stop barking. Because only dogs can hear the ultrasonic sounds, all dogs within a certain range will be able to hear them.

Training where dog barking is concerned may take some time; however, if a bark collar is also used, it can have great long-term effects. Training should avoid punishment and focus on rewarding the dog for good behavior instead. You will only need to use the bark collars very rarely once they get into the habit of being rewarded for not barking. When your dog stops barking for no reason they make both your home and neighboring houses a far nicer place to live.

Sometimes dogs bark from plausible reasons or just out of boredom. A great idea would be to use bark collar. If you want to read more details on various types and mechanisms of bark collar, click this link.

How to Tell Your Neighbor Their Dog’s Barking Annoys You?

Friday, April 29th, 2011

A great fix to the neighborhood dogs’ barking issue is the bark collar. Even if the noisy dog isn’t yours, but a neighbor’s, it is still annoying for everyone in the neighborhood. Dogs may bark from all kinds of reasons, and sometimes they make noise out of boredom. This habit needs to be controlled or the barking can become a nuisance to everyone in the area.

Proper training or anti-bark collars are great solutions for barking dogs. When your neighbor’s dog barks it can begin to cause tension between you, and this is never a great atmosphere to live in. Even though you are probably a dog lover, that does not mean you can stand the neighbor’s dog barking all the time. If you get along great with your neighbor, you can recommend him to purchase a bark collar for their dog.

Maybe your neighbor has never heard of bark collars before. Or maybe he’s not aware that his pet is such a problem for people living in the neighborhood. There are many anti-barking options he should consider and it’s his responsibility to do something about the issue right away. You can suggest him a sensors or an electronic device for dog barking. Some of these devices can be quite expensive and it’s not your responsibility to buy them.

You need to speak with your neighbor, and make them realize that their dog barking is a problem. You can help him figure out why his dog is so loud. Dogs bark when they are scared, bored, hungry, or when they simply want attention. Only your neighbor knows the pet well and can find out quickly what the problem is. Maybe the dog is only barking when they go out to work, or when a loud noise occurs in the street. If you explain your neighbor how much his dog stresses you, he will be forced to think about purchasing a bark collar.

They are very effective, and simple to use alongside other training methods. Dogs love being rewarded, and respond well to training that involves praise and rewards. There are more options of anti-bark collars, available at different prices and designs. Any of them is safe for the dogs. They can safely teach the dog it shouldn’t bark without a good reason. There are types of abrk collars that produce a mild shock that annoys the dog whenever it barks.

Once it understands that the shock is only caused from their barking they will soon begin to behave better. Dogs are very intelligent, and will not want any discomfort no matter how small it is. If you are straighforward and polite, your neighbor will accept your suggestion and buy such a device. After all, he does not ignore his dog problem, he simply isn’t aware of it.

Before considering an anti-barking solution, you need to determine the reason why the dog barks so much. If the neighbor’s dog is the culprit, you can recommend your neighbor to purchase a bark collar. If you want to find out more about dog barking solutions and types of bark collar, click here.

Are Bark Collars Ethical?

Wednesday, April 27th, 2011

There are three different methods currently in use as no bark collars for dogs. These three versions of dog collars serve their purpose well, but some people wonder if they really do not hurt the animal at all. As a dog owner, you should know about the no bark dog collar you want to use on your noisy pet.

Collars That Use Citronella Spray

Some no bark collars emit a citrus smell if the dog barks for long. Because dogs really don’t like the smell of citrus, this can be very effective as a no bark collar. Some types of citrus spray collars make a hissing sound before spraying the substance, so that the dog can stop barking even sooner once it learns what the hiss means. The citrus spray collars do not hurt the dog, they merely annoy it.

Ultrasonic or Sonic Bark Collars

The sound produced by sonic or ultrasonic devices is only heard by dogs. This tone is similar to the dog whistle sound. Most humans can’t hear it or be annoyed by it, but dogs can and will stop barking once they realize that when they stop barking the high pitched tone goes away. Experts confirm that this device is not harmful for the dog. Again, the dog feels no pain whatsoever, but it is only annoyed by the noise. Sonic collars are not as efficient as the other bark collars because the dog can easily get used to the sound and ignore it.

Electronic No Bark Collars

An electronic bark collar reacts at the dog’s barking by sending it a mild shock. It isn’t truly dangerous, and can be compared to the shock you can get from static electricity. This shock only irritates the dog; however, many people believe that purchasing and using it on a dog is unethical. Their opinion is based on the fact that, unlike the other types of collars, this electronic device does more than annoying the dog – it applies a physical stimulus. There are persons who do not approve with these devices. Nonetheless, the electronic dog collar is extremely efficient so, if you own a dog that barks all the time, you may consider it a viable solution.

To deter a dog from barking excessively, you can choose from no bark dog collars that use citronella spray, sonic or ultrasonic sounds, or electronic shocking. Unlike the citrus and the sonic collars, the electronic device is considered unethical by some people because it uses shocks. None of these methods are considered dangerous for dogs.

no bark collars have gained more and more popularity lately, because of their efficacy in teaching your dog how to behave. However, some people consider the electronic dog collar unethical, because it uses electronic shocks to calm the barking. It is up to you to choose the most proper method to educate your dog. You should know that no matter which dog collar you choose, it will not harm your dog, but merely annoy it. If you want to read more about no bark dog collars and why they are so safe for your dog’s health, click this link.

Why the Use of Bark Collars Is Forbidden in Some Parts of Australia?

Monday, April 25th, 2011

Dogs bark. This is how they express themselves. There are many reasons why a dog barks, from hunger to fear. A normal barking is no problem for anyone. Yet, some dogs bark more than normal. If you own such a dog, then you probably figured out that it stressed out everyone in your family and the neighbors as well. You’re probably looking for solutions for the problems your noisy dog cause. Some people think that the solution should be anti bark collars.

However, these collars cannot be purchased in some Australian states. It is illegal to ship the collars into Australia as most states restrict or prohibit their use to stop barking. There are still companies that ship these collars to Australia, and they can do so by disassembling them before they enter the country or selling them under other names.

If you live in Australian Capital Territory, New South Wales and South Australia, you will not be able to purchase bark collars, yet they are legal in Norther Territory and Victoria, but only after you’ve exhausted all other options. In these two states you need a document signed by the vet in order to purchase bark collars. There are currently no prohibitions against bark collars in Western Australia, Tasmania or Queensland.

Among the three types of bark collars, the static collar uses mild shocks. Whenever the dog barks, he gets a shock. Static collars have adjustable levels. For instance, the shock increases in intensity with time. The shock is more powerful if the dog barks again within the next 30 seconds. It continues this way up to 7-10 levels.

The reason that they are illegal or restricted in most of Australia is that these kind of bark collars are considered cruel. These devices are forbidden in other countries as well. Fans of the collars say that the shock itself isn’t painful. Others tested these devices themselves and claim they are painful. These people say the shocks are extremely unpleasant.

Anyway, the shock collar isn’t the only option you have. One option is citronella collars. These devices use the same principle. Instead of administering the shock when a dog barks, they simply eliminate a citrus smell. Dogs tend to avoid the smell and they stop barking. They are not painful as the shock collars.

Dog training is a great alternative to bark collars. There are plenty of dog trainers or pet centers that offer training on how to get a dog to stop barking. Using the training along with the citronella collar is a better choice than using a painful bark collar to shock a dog.

Bark collars are banned in many Australian states. Australian dog owners are forced to consider other alternatives to train their dogs.

There are many options to teach your dog good behavior, such as dog training or use bark collars.. In some states in Australia, dog collars are forbidden by law, as they are considered cruel methods of training. If you want to read more about purchasing bark collars in Australia, click this link.

Amidst the electric shock and sonic collars that are often used to calm down the perpetual barking of pets, the advanced Cintronella bark collars prove to be humane and unique.

The Principle Behind citronella bark collar

Cintronella bark collars have a mechanism that allows them to use a citrus spray, that triggers at the vibrations of the dog’s barking. Once your dog starts barking, the sensor will activate and will spurt scented oil under the dog’s chin. Being strong scented, cintronella surprizes the dog and controls its tendency to bark relentlessly.

Types of Cintronella Bark Collars

citronella anti bark collar comes in two different versions – one that is sensitive to sound and another one that can be controlled by a remote.

Barking induces the spouting of the spray in case of the sound sensitive model whereas the remote control version can be operated remotely by the owner via a single click of a button as and when there is a necessity for it. Many dog owners prefer the remote control version to the sensor sensitive one as it gives them te power to decide when to interfere. Moreover, this type of collar can be used whenever your dog engages in disturbing behavior, such as attacking strangers.

Both versions of citrus spray collar are helpful in preventing and eliminating an upseting behavior of the dog that occurs frequently. Apart from annoying the dog, it will feel no other discomfort produced by the collar.

Advantages of Cintronella Bark Collars

1. This type of collar allows you to control your dog’s behaviour without using painful methods.

2. The consumables are available in any pet store.

3. While the strong scent of the cintronella spray calms down the pet, it has testified that it is not harmful to both the owner and the pet.

4. Moreover, when the spray pulverizes, it will go unnoticed by the people around.

Is Your Dog Barking All the Time? Read About Possible Solutions

Sunday, April 24th, 2011

Many houses around the world have a dog as a family pet, and many of these households have adopted their dog as part of the family. However, they find that their favorite pet simply barks too much. Continuous barking might end up stressing everyone in the house and dog owners sometimes are willing to do anything for their dog to stop making noise.

Dogs are extremely useful when their barking announces an imminent danger or someone trespassing the property. However, dogs bark in many conditions and not all of them are serious. There is the happy bark that a dog will let out when he is thrilled at the sight of his owner or the prospect of playing around. Others simply bark because they want to spend more time with their owner.

For the most part, dogs will only bark when they are bored. If their owners tend to always caress them, dogs will insist even more on being entertained often. Obviously, this is not the dog’s fault, but the master’s.

If you want to avoid your dog barking when other dogs are out in the street, a great idea would be to keep them in the back of the courtyard. They also need to run and play, so make sure they have enough time and space to do so so that they can consume some of their abundant energy.

Make sure not to give in to your dog when it is simply barking to get your attention. Encouraging it to bark continuously is not an inspired means to avoid this situation. Practice simple commands with your dog, and that will get him in the habit of obeying. Avoid stressing it by yelling a lot, this will only make the situation worse.

If simple training isn’t enough, you can associate it with bark collars. You shouldn’t be afraid to use these devices on your dog, as they will not harm it at all. A bark collar can use many different reinforcement techniques to teach the dog not to bark so much. There are more versions of such collars – the bark collar that uses citrus spray, the static and the sonic ones.

Each of these methods of reinforcing in the dog’s mind the need to be quiet has been developed to be humane and painless for animals. The collars only annoy the animal, but do it no real harm.

The pet must be kept in the back of the courtyard, away from intense noise produced by children or cars, so that the bark collars don’t react to any other stimuli but the dog’s barking. Whent he dog notices the connection between its barking and the unpleasant feeling, it will bark more rarely.

A great way to educate your dog is the use of a bark collar. When you put the collar on, keep the animal away from sources of loud noise. Read more about the use of a bark collar by clicking this link.
