Do you like poodle mix puppies?

Do you like the fluffy poodle mix puppies??? I have seen some VERY cute ones, should I buy one? I will adopt. There are some on petfinder in my area. I was thinking Shih Tzu-Poodle mixes, what do you think? If you don't like them then what kind?

They are adorable! I have 2 poodle mixes and they are the best. They don't get quite as big as a toy poodle and definitely not as big as a miniature poodle, although it does depend on the size of the other dog how big they really will be. One of mine is 5 lbs and the other is 9lbs, so they're big enough that they don't get stepped on, yet small enough that an apartment is MORE than enough room to tire themselves out in!

I have not had an serious health problems with them, but one is allergic to fleas. They don't eat much, but they do drink a lot of water. They are energetic at the right times, and LOVE to sleep at the right times (like when I'm cramming for an exam!) and aren't "yappy" like people claim small dogs to be. If they hear a noise that they do not know, they will bark, but they caml down once they see someone they recognise or I say something to them.

They have a ton of personality, just like every other dog, but I think mine has too much personality! One figured out how to pull the blinds down so she can look out the window! They're very smart and know the difference between right and wrong. I leave their crate doors open, and my male crates himself when he has done something wrong. He stays there until he gets bored, which is for about 20 minutes. House training wasn't that bad with one of them and the other it took a while, so it really does depend on the dog!

I have no problems with them, except that love to tear paper, and one is attracted to the silicone cases for ipods and cell phones! They are relatively easy to groom yourself if you keep their hair short becuase they hair never stops growing, or your can take them to a pofessional every 2 months I would say. Once you brush them regularly they will not get matted and tangled even thgough they have long hair.

I have two maltipoos (maltese and poodle) but I have a friend who has a shihpoo (shih tzu and poodle) and hers it a little bigger but still the same temperament wise. They are great to have and will win over your heart the moment you play with them (that's how I got my first one)!

And if you don't want a young puppy, there are shelters and so on that have some poodle mixes. They are a little harder to find if you physically go look for them, but there is www.petfinder.com that has pictures, facts and short tidbits on the dogs. That way you'll know exactly what you're getting (attitude wise) and how they will look. For little dogs though, it sometimes costs just as much to adopt them than it does to buy one. Good luck with your search!

What should I know about toy poodle breeders (or in general) in order to buy a puppy?

What should I know before buying a toy poodle from a breeder?
How much should the puppy cost?
What is the best color to get?
Any advice is greatly appreciated! :)
Make sure to contact a lot of toy poodle breeders and ask them a lot of questions about their breeding program. Get references from others that have bought dogs from them in the past. Then contact those people to find out how well their experience went.

There are many toy poodle breeders on this web page: http://www.pets4you.com/toypoodle.html

What kind of good clipper brand for toy poodle hair?

what is good clipper brand for toy poodle hair? i want to get one and sometimes i wanted to trimmed my own dog hair. Is it hard to do? do i need some experience how to use it? do they have instruction? just tell me what brand is it? how much cost? where can i buy it? I am looking for easy to use and not too difficult. thanks!

I personally like Oster and Andis.. as far as the blades, it depends on how short you want the hair.. the higher the number, the shorter the cut. I use a #10 on my dad's poodle over the summer.. but use a #5 or #7 during cooler months.

I dont think poodles are hard to groom unless you want a bunch of fancy poofs.. those take time to brush out and scissor to shape.. but if you are just wanting a basic "pet" clip.. its not that hard.

Most clipper kits sold at your petshop have instructional videos with them.

Cost, depends on how much you want to spend.. Some clippers can cost upwards of a few hundred. For your purpose tho, you will probably want to stick with a clipper that is around $100 price range.

do teacup/toy poodles die fast?

im thinking about getting a teacup or toy poodle, but my only worry is that they die fast.
i heard that they do?
okay. so people dont tell me anymore.
you have made it quiet clear that a teacup poodle doesnt exist.
so sorryyy.

No such thing as a 'teacup' breed of anything.

A toy poodle from a responsible breeder shouldn't die fast. http://www.poodleclubofamerica.org and http://www.pbrc.net/breeding3.html

Breeding is often the key. A backyard breeder/puppy mill dog is much more likely to have problems due to the poor quality of the breeding animals. A well-bred dog is more likely to be healthy and long lived due to the extreme caution that a responsible breeder uses when breeding.

Added: PCA 'teacup' statement

""Teacup" or "Pocket" Poodles and "Royal Standard" Poodles

Responsible Poodle Breeders do not promote the sale of "teacup", "pocket" or "royal standard" Poodle puppies. This is a marketing ploy to sell the Poodle puppies for increased prices. Prospective Poodle puppy buyers interested in a small Toy Poodle or a large Standard Poodle can make their preferences known to their Poodle breeder. Most responsible Toy Poodle and Standard Poodle breeders are familiar enough with their family of dogs to provide information about size and other attributes."

Life expectancy of Toy Poodles, Miniature Poodles, and Teacup Poodles?

I need an answer to this question soon considering I have to choose one of the three to buy tomorrow…
So what are the life expectancies of Toy Poodles, Miniature Poodles, and Teacup Poodles?

*Bonus Q: Which of the 3 are MORE (not 'yelling'…emphasizing) loyal, good for companionship, and intelligent than the others?*

Wherever you are going to buy this dog I suggest you DON'T (not yelling….emphasizing).lol.

There is no such thing as Teacup poodles, this place is most likely after your money and cares very little about the dogs or after you've left out the door. Recurr to a reputable breeder for one and they, I'm sure, will be more than willing to answer this question ^_~

Best of wishes on your decision!

can you give me some tips/advice on teacup poodles?

anything helpful would be nice. i want to know as much as i can. please no websites. i literally have been to all the poodle websites. just any info on teacup poodles. no negative comments please.
YES I KNOW THAT THE TEACUP POODLE IS THE RUNT OF THE LITTER! and i don't care. anything you know on TOY poodles if you prefer to call it that would be helpful. no websites please. and no negative comments.

teacup poodles are generally under 8 inches and weight 4 pound or less.teacup poodles need extra care, they cannot jump on the sofa or into a bed and they cannot climb difficult stairs. You have to watch them constantly not to fall off bed or a sofa, because they can break a leg or be seriously injured. Also, as puppies, they shouldn't be left to run the whole house and should be kept in a small playpen or dog training crate. they are not suitable in a household full of children and other dogs, because they may be hurt or stepped on.
some tiny poodles are prone to Hypoglycemia or low sugar, for reason they require frequent meals and plenty of rest. So if you decide to have a Teacup poodle, make sure you know the warning signs to assure the well being and health of your very cute doggy. that's why i have toy poodle and mini maltese because teacup poodles are too tiny. these are not negative for teacup poodles , these are the tips and warnings to watch out.
teacup poodles are tiny toy poodles they are generally under 8 inches tall and weight 4 pounds or less
adult tiny toy poodles weight between 4 to 6 pounds
adult toy poodle normal weight range is between 6 to 8 pounds
Miniature poodles are mid-sized and must be under15 inches at the highest point of the shoulders with a minimum height in excess of 10 inches
The standard poodle, the largest of the three must be over 15 inches at the highest point of the shoulder

Can i use normal scissors / human shavers to groom my poodle?

I cant afford to get those heavy duty shavers or send my poodle to the groomers often, so im opting to learn and groom my poodle myself. As a start, can i use normal scissors / human shavers to trim my poodle?

Sure, just be really careful. I used to groom my moms wire fox terriers with human scissors all the time.

My new teacup poodle puppy (4 months) is so untrained!?

He pees all over the place, he bites everything, and at night he always whimpers when we leave him downstairs and we go upstairs to sleep. It gets REALLY annoying. And we keep hitting him when he does these things. But i also feel really bad about it after wards because he gets so angry and sad. What else should i do????
PLEASE help

I am absolutely appalled by a lot of things this question holds!

First of all, let me make this quite clear. You should NEVER smack a dog, you abusing ignorant fish!

The reason why this poor animal is the way he is is because 'back yard breeders' have put a fancy name in front of what he actually is!

Tea cup dogs DO NOT exist. There is no such thing as them. They are RUNTS. Poorly bred by breeders that have put a title in front of there names and put a big price tag against them! When you smack your dog its like your punishing it for what it's been bred to do!

Where can I get a dog like this from? Really Adorable?

http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://labradoodles.files.wordpress.com/2008/11/dsc_0211.jpg&imgrefurl=http://labradoodles.wordpress.com/2008/11/18/jarrahs-australian-labradoodle-puppies-2/&usg=__sn1fR0EbbAHiwIQxjgLfjXSf5yo=&h=365&w=400&sz=90&hl=en&start=91&um=1&tbnid=9RzSVOule3-2kM:&tbnh=113&tbnw=124&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dcute%2Blabradoodle%2Bpicture%26ndsp%3D18%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:official%26sa%3DN%26start%3D90%26um%3D1

I think they are adorable and one of the cutest dogs in the world and no….I'm not going to a shelter/petfinder/or and rescue site, because you don't know if the dogs a pure mix or not and you dont know a shelter dogs past. I want to get this dog from some one who has a Pure Lab and a Poodle.

Do you know of any sites that have them for sale,? Are they a good breed of dog to have? Information would help Thanks. Will Choose BA ^_^

Why not go to a shelter? Who cares if they're purebred or not? Why not save a dogs from being euthanized? Did you know there are 8 million dogs in the US being murdered each year, due to breeding (backyard breeders), irresponsible owners, animal abusers? Why not be a hero and save that little dog looking at you in the cage at a shelter? You would be saving 2 lives: that dog you adopt, and the dog that will take his place.
